Chelsea and Tottenham back on alert as Shakhtar turn down Anzhi bid for Willian
Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur could yet sign Brazilian attacking midfielder Willian after his club Shakhtar Donetsk reject a £29m bid from Anzhi Makhachkala.
The 24-year-old, long a target for both Premier League clubs, had looked set for a move to Russia, with Anzhi lodging a formal bid this week.
But A Bola reports that Ukrainian champions Shakhtar are holding out for an even larger sum, which already represents a Ukrainian national record transfer fee.
Capped twice by Brazil, Willian has starred for Shakhtar since 2007, playing 120 times for the club and scoring 20 goals.
