Manchester United assistant boss Mike Phelan was highly critical of referee Cuneyt Cakir's decision to send off Nani during his side's defeat to Real Madrid.
Phelan told ITV's Gabriel Clarke the sending-off early in the second half cost United the game and was a 'poor, poor decision'.
"We feel as though we've been on the wrong end of a decision that's cost us the game," Phelan said. "To give a straight red for that seems a very, very poor decision.""We think he over-reacted - I had a discussion with the fourth official and he was as shocked as anyone else."
"We had a game plan, and the game plan was perfect," Phelan added. "The decision just killed the game for us."
