League One Crewe Alexandra have signed former Wigan and West Brom striker Nathan Ellington until the end of the season.

The 31-year-old forward has been without a club since leaving Ipswich in January, and has been on trial at Gresty Road in recent weeks, scoring four times in as many games for their under-21s.

Ellington has an impressive scoring rate, having struck 119 goals in 283 appearances. The ex-Watford man will be available for Saturday's game with Colchester and will wear No. 32.

After the announcement, Ellington tweeted: "Very happy to have signed at Crewe, proper footballing club! Now down to business! 3 points tomorrow boys."
