FA Cup holders Chelsea travel to Old Trafford for a quarter-final tie with a Manchester United side with a point to prove following their Champions League exit to Real Madrid.

Here we take a look at the battles which may decide the outcome of the match.

ROBIN VAN PERSIE v DAVID LUIZ

Amid the furore surrounding Wayne Rooney, it seems to have slipped quietly by that Van Persie has suffered a form dip, with one goal in eight games. With John Terry's fitness travails meaning the Chelsea captain is unlikely to start, Luiz's defensive capabilities will face a stern test from the Dutchman.

PATRICE EVRA v OSCAR

Evra's defensive credentials have been questioned, but against the Blues, with their second line of three small forwards, he may be able to get forward to support the attack. Oscar, who has scored six times in Europe, missed a host of chances against West Brom last week and can punish United if he is given space.

MICHAEL CARRICK v FRANK LAMPARD

The battle between two England midfielders could go some way to deciding the contest, with both key figures at dictating the pace of the game for their sides. Lampard scored his 199th Chelsea goal in the last round against Brentford and Carrick will have to be on his guard defensively.
