Wigan chairman Dave Whelan's dreams of a Wembley meeting with Blackburn are coming true
Wigan chairman Dave Whelan admitted to having dreamt his side beat Everton to reach Wembley prior to their 3-0 win at Goodison Park on Saturday lunchtime.
"I had a dream this week, and the dream was we came here and beat Everton, Blackburn beat Millwall and we meet Blackburn at Wembley," Whelan told ITV's Ned Boulting.
As a player Whelan suffered a broken leg in the first half of Blackburn's 3-0 FA Cup Final defeat to Wolves in 1960, and he admits the club's current run gives him a chance to erase those bad memories.
"I've got unfinished business at Wembley," he added. "I was carried off in the 42nd minute and I still feel I should have got a winners' medal that day had we had a full team - no substitutes back then of course.
"If we could play Blackburn at Wembley and get the FA Cup in Wigan it will be absolutely unbelievable."
