England goalscorer Wayne Rooney admitted Montenegro had made the Three Lions pay for not taking numerous first-half chances in the sides' 1-1 draw in Podgorica.
Rooney scored the opening goal inside the first ten minutes of the game, and England had opportunities to extend their lead before a rousing comeback by Montenegro in the second half saw them equalise.
"It was a lesson for us today second half, we've got to learn how to see out these games a bit better," Rooney told ITV's Gabriel Clarke.
"We knew it was going to be tough second half, we knew they'd come and have a go and they did," he added.
"A point's probably the fair result, credit to Montenegro."
