Basle v Tottenham: Key battles

Tottenham will have to upset the odds if they are to make the semi-finals of the Europa League following their 2-2 draw against Swiss champions Basle in last week's first leg.

Here we take a look at the key battles that could decide the outcome of the tie in tomorrow's return match in Switzerland.

EMMANUEL ADEBAYOR v FABIAN SCHAR

After a frustrating lean spell, Adebayor is starting to show the kind of form that helped him bag 18 goals last season. The Togo striker has scored two in his last two games and 21-year-old Schar, who only moved to St Jakob Park last summer, looked vulnerable to the Togolese's power in the first leg.

MICHAEL DAWSON v MOHAMED SALAH

Salah was Basle's outstanding player in the first leg and had it not been for some poor finishing, the Egyptian would have ended the game with a hat-trick. His pace and trickery could be too much for Dawson, who struggled in the first leg and was also poor at times in Sunday's 2-2 draw against Everton.

STEVEN CAULKER v MARCO STRELLER

This has been Caulker's breakthrough year at Spurs. Strong in the air and quick on his feet, he will have to be at his best to deal with the experienced Streller and his 6ft 1in frame which caused so many problems last week at White Hart Lane.
