Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud starts a three-match ban against new Barclays Premier League champions Manchester United on Sunday.

Theo Walcott and Lukas Podolski are both pressing for a central attacking role.

Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski (rib) remains sidelined, while midfielder Abou Diaby (knee) is a long-term absentee.

Sir Alex Ferguson is expected to freshen up his Manchester United starting line-up for the trip to Arsenal.

The Barclays Premier League champions are likely to have skipper Nemanja Vidic back, whilst Rio Ferdinand, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck are all in contention.

Having revealed earlier this week they played against Aston Villa on Monday despite carrying injuries, Ferguson may elect to rest Michael Carrick and Jonny Evans.
