Sunderland have completed the signing of attack-minded midfielder Emanuele Giaccherini from Juventus on a four-year deal.

1985: Born May 5 in Bibbiena, Tuscany.

2003-04: Scores 15 goals for Cesena in the group stages of the Primavera youth championship.

2004-05: Spends a season on loan with Lega Pro club Forli, scoring once in 22 appearances.

2005-07: Moves to Bellaria Igea on a two-year loan deal and scores twice in 37 games.

2007-08: A season with Pavia yields nine goals from 28 outings, while Cesena are relegated to the Lega Pro at the end of the season.

2008-09: Giaccherini helps Cesena win promotion to Serie B at the first time of asking.

2010: May - Cesena are promoted to Serie A as runners-up to Lecce.

September 10 - Scores his first top-flight goal in a 2-0 home win over AC Milan.

2011: January 19 - Scores Cesena's second goal before being sent off in a 3-2 defeat at Inter Milan.

May - Further goals against Palermo, Bologna and Brescia see Giaccherini finish the season with seven goals and four assists. Cesena finish 15th.

August 25 - Joins Juventus on a co-ownership deal.

September 11 - Makes Juve debut in a 4-1 victory over Parma.

2012: January 21 - Scores his first goal for the Bianconeri, and his only league goal of the 2011-12 season, in a 2-0 win at Atalanta.

January 24 - Opens the scoring in a 3-0 Coppa Italia victory over Roma.

May - Juventus win the Serie A title from AC Milan.

June - His remaining registration is purchased from Cesena for 4.25million euros and he extends his contract in Turin to 2015.

June 10 - After being called up for the European Championships, he earns his first cap for Italy in a 1-1 draw with Spain.

August 11 - Juventus win the Supercoppa, beating Napoli 4-2 after extra time in Beijing.

September 16 - Opens his account for the 2012-13 season with a goal in a 3-1 win at Genoa.

2013: March 10 - His goal decides a 1-0 victory over Catania.

May 18 - Adds a third goal for the season in a 3-2 defeat at Sampdoria and Juve retain the Serie A title.

June 11 - Scores the fastest goal in Italy's history - opening the scoring in a 2-2 draw with Haiti in just 19 seconds.

June 22 - Hits the back of the net in a 4-2 defeat to Brazil at the Confederations Cup.

June 30 - Nets Italy's final penalty of a shootout with Uruguay as the Azzurri take the bronze medal in Brazil.

July 16 - Joins Sunderland on a four-year contract for a fee reported by Juve to be £6.5 million.
