With the new Premier League season less than a fortnight away, the transfer rumour mill is working overtime. Here's Saturday's top-ranked gossip:

Newcastle United forward Papiss Cisse took the Wonga in the end, so you wonder what he thinks of the prospect of fighting for a starting place with Loic Remy and Darren Bent. Newcastle's outspoken director of football, Joe Kinnear, is confident of landing both the QPR and Villa strikers. (Sky Sports)

Having sold Clint Dempsey to Seattle Sounders, Spurs are looking to balance their ins and outs with a move for Liverpool striker Luis Suarez. The deal would be financed – and then some – by selling Gareth Bale to Real Madrid. (Sunday Times)

Arsene Wenger is keeping his cards very close to his chest this summer, but the Arsenal boss has admitted that Gervinho and Marouane Chamakh will leave the club before the start of the new campaign. Gervinho is tipped to move to AS Roma, with Chamakh going to Crystal Palace on loan. Danish striker Nicklas Bendtner is going nowhere, though (insert joke about the Dane's career here). (ITV)

Manchester United's back-up plan if they fail to sign Cesc Fabregas from Barcelona? Another bid for Bayern Munich main man Bastian Schweinsteiger. Good luck with that. (Mirror)

Troubled striker Marlon King is set to leave Birmingham City in the next few days, according to Blues manager Lee Clark: "He has been given time off to pursue other opportunities. He is talking to them with his agent, with my permission, and has been over the last couple of weeks, we expect a conclusion in the coming days." (Sky Sports)
