Adnan Januzaj will not be involved in Manchester United's Champions League opener against Bayer Leverkusen.

United have opted to wait until October 7 to register the Belgian, by which time he will have been at Old Trafford for two years and be eligible for the UEFA B list.

Danny Welbeck (knee) looks certain to miss out too, whilst Phil Jones (ankle) is also a major doubt. Rafael trained this morning after a hamstring injury, and whilst Shinji Kagawa also joined in the main session, he is still feeling the after-effects of a flu virus.

Provisional squad: De Gea, Lindegaard, Amos, Rafael, Fabio, Jones, Smalling, Ferdinand, Vidic, Evra, Buttner, Valencia, Giggs, Carrick, Cleverley, Fellaini, Anderson, Kagawa, Young, Van Persie, Rooney, Hernandez.
