England captain Steven Gerrard: World Cup qualification was for the fans

England captain Steven Gerrard tells Gabriel Clarke that the national team's passage to the World Cup in Brazil was for the fans.

Qualification was confirmed following a 2-0 win over Poland, thanks to goals from the skipper Gerrard and the talismanic Wayne Rooney.

"That was for the supporters tonight, who can go and get Brazil booked now," Gerrard said.

Rooney, who scored the first, is optimistic that England's young squad can make an impression on the world stage next summer.

"We've always remained positive, we've had a great focus and believe in ourselves," Rooney explained.

"It's a good time for England."
