SAMUEL ETO'O v BENEDIKT HOWEDES

Cameroon forward Eto'o, a Champions League winner with Barcelona and Mourinho's Inter Milan, is slowly finding form after a less than prolific start and scored his first Chelsea goal against Cardiff. Schalke skipper Howedes will be assigned the task of shackling Eto'o, poised to lead the line in the absence of Fernando Torres.

ASHLEY COLE v MAX MEYER

England left-back Ashley Cole missed the Gelsenkirchen win, with right-back Cesar Azpilicueta deputising on his wrong flank, and will have been impressed with the lively Meyer. The 18-year-old is quick and will keep Cole on his toes by coming in off the wing.

JOHN TERRY v ADAM SZALAI

Terry has been revitalised by the return of Mourinho and has re-established himself as a key figure in European competition. The former England captain's lack of pace can be exposed, but Hungary forward Szalai is the kind of combative, physical player Terry relishes taking on.
