The transfer rumour mill slows to less than Tom Huddlestone-pace in an international week, but there are a few nuggets of gossip to report:

Argentina superstar Lionel Messi has told his Barcelona paymasters to bring him the head – and indeed the rest of the body, intact – of compatriot Sergio Aguero. 'Kun' has been in superb form for Manchester City this season and could be tempted by a move to the Nou Camp/Camp Nou (take your pick). (Express)

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger knows he needs to strengthen his squad in January and has identified two players he wants to do just that: Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko, who has been usurped by upstart Alvaro Negredo, and Italy full-back Ignazio Abate, who currently turns out in the red-and-black stripes of AC Milan. Fulham want to tempt Manchester United fringe players Wilfried Zaha and Anderson to Craven Cottage on loan in the January window – the Cottagers hope that new coach Rene Meulensteen, who joined them from United, can broker such a deal. (Metro)
