Everton's influential left back Leighton Baines is expected to be out of action until the new year after breaking his toe in the Merseyside derby.

The England full back was taken off after just 50 minutes of Everton's 3-3 draw against Liverpool, with early tests showing a fractured metatarsal.

While the full extent of his injury remains unclear, the 29 year-old will almost certainly miss Everton's crucial set of fixtures in December including trips to Old Trafford and the Emirates Stadium.

Meanwhile, speculation continues to grow about Baines joining former Toffees boss David Moyes at Man United during the upcoming January window.
