According to reports in Portugal today, Spurs will make a £30m January bid for former Man United striker Giuseppe Rossi next month.
The Italian international has already scored 12 goals in 15 matches for Fiorentina this season, and Portuguese newspaper O Record claim Andre Villas-Boas would like him to improve Tottenham's attacking options.
Rossi's rumoured January arrival would also pave the way for Jermain Defoe to leave for MLS side Toronto, where he's expected to link up with former White Hart Lane team-mate Ryan Nelsen.
Rossi joined Man United's youth set-up as a teenager in 2004, but failed to establish himself in the first team under Sir Alex Ferguson, eventually moving to Villarreal following loan spells with Newcastle and Parma.
He scored 18 La Liga goals in 2010/11, finishing the season third behind Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo, Sergio Aguero and Alvaro Negredo in the Spanish goalscoring charts.
Despite struggling with injuries since then, Rossi has finally rediscovered his best form this season and could be rewarded with a Premier League move by Spurs.
