Former Man United defender Gary Neville and player-coach Ryan Giggs are in talks about buying Salford City FC, according to reports in the Manchester Evening News.
The Old Trafford legends are in the early stages of talks with officials about a takeover which could also see them set up an academy at Moor Lane.
A board meeting on Saturday is thought have ended with a majority in favour of welcoming any potential approach from the pair.
Salford currently occupy 9th spot in the Evo-Stik First Division North and believe their chances of rising four divisions into the football league under Neville and Giggs are more realistic.
Should any deal go ahead, it could see building work begin on a new stand and clubhouse costing more then £500,000, which they have already received planning permission for.
