Liverpool and England striker Daniel Sturridge has been named as the FTBpro PFA Fan player of the month for February.
The award comes following Sturridge’s outstanding performances for Liverpool throughout February in which he scored five goals and racked up two assists to keep Liverpool in the race for the Premier League title.
Sturridge netted in 1-1 draw with West Brom at the start of the month and followed that up with another goal in the 5-1 victory over title rivals Arsenal. Sturridge scored and assisted in the 3-2 comeback win over Fulham and he also scored a brace and an assist in the 4-3 win over Swansea at Anfield.
Sturridge’s goals helped Liverpool win three of their four Premier League games in February, the only points they dropped were in the 1-1 draw away to West Brom at the start of the month.
Sturridge and strike partner Luis Suarez have been in great form for Liverpool this season having scored 18 and 24 Premier League goals respectively, as Brendan Rodgers side continue to keep pace with league leaders Chelsea at the top of the Premier League table.
Liverpool are currently second, four points behind Joes Mourinho’s side. They have scored 73 goals in the Premier League this season- more than any other side and if they are to win their first league title since 1990 they will need Sturridge to continue his impressive goal scoring run until the end of the season.
The Reds' next four games include trips to Manchester United and Cardiff before two consecutive home games against Sunderland and Tottenham.
The FTBpro PFA Fan Player of the Month awards are designed to give a strong voice to the supporters who are the lifeblood of the game. The awards are endorsed by the players and supported by the clubs.
One lucky fan voter will present Daniel Sturridge with the FTBpro PFA Fan Player of the Month award before Liverpool’s home game with Sunderland on Wednesday 26th March.
Voting is now open for the March Player of the Month and fans can cast their votes at www.ftbpro.com/fanawards
