Mali midfielder Seydou Keita travelled to Italy on Thursday amid speculation he is about to sign for Roma.
The former Barcelona player spent six months this season with Primera Division side Valencia and is a free agent.
Roma are keen to acquire the 34-year-old, who is also a reported target of Liverpool and Manchester United.
Keita is set to sign a one-year contract with the Eternal City outfit, with an option to extend his stay for a further year.
Roma, coached by Rudi Garcia, finished runners-up in Serie A last term and will play in next season's Champions League.
