Champions League stats: Marseille v Inter

Stat experts Opta crunch the key numbers for Wednesday's Round of 16 first legs, with Marseille taking on 2010 champions Inter Milan, and Basel meeting Bayern Munich.

Inter and Marseille met in the 2003/04 UEFA Cup quarter-final, with the French team winning both legs 1-0.

Marseille have never scored more than one goal in each of their 14 encounters against Italian opposition in Europe (excluding the Intertoto Cup).

The Swiss side are the only team in the Last 16 yet to keep a clean sheet in this season’s competition.

Franck Ribery was fouled more often than any other player in the Champions League Group Stage (23).

Nine of the 11 goals Bayern have scored have been netted in the first half, the highest proportion of any team in the Group Stage this season (82%).

Basel have scored three goals on counter attacks this season, more than any other side in the Champions League Group Stage.

Bayern have played five matches against Swiss sides in Europe, winning four, including a win home and away against Basel in the 20010-11 Champions League Group Stage.

FC Basel have won none and lost four of their six European games against German opposition.

Basel have lost just one of their last seven matches in Europe.

Alexander Frei has netted eight goals in just 11 Champions League appearances (excluding qualifiers).
