Sir Alex Ferguson offered no excuses after seeing his side go out of the Champions League after a 2-1 defeat to FC Basel in Switzerland.
"It's obviously a disappointing night for us," the Manchester United manager told ITV's Gabriel Clarke. "We have only ourselves to blame, we had so many goalscoring opportunities."
And though Ferguson said that clawing back results in such circumstances is "in our genes", he lamented the two "stupid" dropped points at home to Basel on Matchday 2 which he believes cost his side their place in the knock-out stages.
