Villas-Boas: We deserved our win
Spurs manager Andre Villas-Boas was full of praise for his team after their convincing 3-1 win over Maribor at White Hart Lane.
"It's really good to see," Villas-Boas said of his side's performance. "We deserved good things today."
Meanwhile, asked by Ned Boulting whether he might be tempted to play a 4-4-2 formation in the Premier League as he did against Maribor, Villas-Boas was reticent, maintaining: "It's a different scenario."
Defoe: Hat-trick 'best feeling in the world'
Tottenham's hat-trick hero against Maribor Jermain Defoe was ebullient after his goals fired Spurs to a much-needed Europa League victory.
"As a forward you get judged on scoring goals, and it's the best feeling in the world," Defoe told ITV's Ned Boulting.
Defoe was also delighted to learn he had overtaken Teddy Sheringham on Spurs' all-time goalscoring list.
"That's special because Teddy is a player who I used to watch as a kid," Defoe said.
