Werder Bremen injury doubts Sebastian Boenisch and Clemens Fritz have declared themselves fit for the Champions League clash against Anorthosis Famagusta.

The pair trained with the squad and could feature as Bremen go in search of their first win in Group B.

The Bundesliga side lie bottom of the pool, but just two points separate them from second-placed Anorthosis, so victory in Nicosia could lift them into the qualification places.

Left-back Boenisch and right-back Fritz have yet to be officially passed fit after thigh injuries, but both reported no adverse reaction to training.

Boenisch told the club's official website after training: "We saw how the muscle reacted to sprinting. I had no problems with it and feel good.

"But whether I will also be in the squad, we still have to wait and see."

Germany international Fritz, who has had an injury-plagued start to the campaign, added: "I could take part in training without any problems and am happy, that I can help the team again.

"The first half of the season has not gone for me as I would have wished so far, so I would like from now on to have some good games."

Bremen will also be able to call on Mesut Ozil, who is serving a domestic suspension but is eligible to play in Europe.

Captain Frank Baumann will also play despite being struck on the cheek by a mobile phone battery thrown from the crowd in last weekend's north German derby defeat to Hamburg.

"It was certainly painful, but it did not hinder me to such an extent that I thought about going off," the 33-year-old said.

The visitors will be looking to bounce back from their 3-0 mauling at home by Panathinaikos last time out and also a domestic run which has seen them win just two of their past eight league games.

The Cypriots, though, have been the surprise package in this season's competition, beating Pana and taking points off Inter Milan.

They also held Bremen to a goalless draw in the sides' first meeting and, even more impressively, are unbeaten at home in all competitions since January last year - a run of 39 games.

Temur Ketsbaia's side, who won 2-1 at Apollon to stay top of the Cypriot league at the weekend, have also been handed an injury boost of their own with the news goalkeeper Arian Beqaj is likely to play.

A statement on the club's website read: "The good news was the return of Arian Beqaj who trained normally with the rest of the team and looks likely to feature in Wednesday's game against Werder."

There are however fitness concerns over Cedric Bardon and Traianos Dellas.
