Pre-match: Luis Suarez refuses to shake Patrice Evra's hand in the pre-match formalities. Evra grabs the Uruguayan's arm in attempt to force the issue but he shrugs him off. Rio Ferdinand refuses Suarez's handshake.
1: Evra, in trying to beat Suarez to the ball, collides with team-mate Ferdinand, who has to receive treatment.
13: Suarez goes down under a challenge by Jonny Evans 45 yards from goal despite there appearing to be minimal contact. Evra hacks clear resulting free-kick.
19: Suarez attempts ambitious backheel pass on the halfway line but succeeds only in falling over and giving the ball away. Seconds later picks up possession on the right of United's penalty area but runs the ball out of play trying to dribble past Ferdinand.
35: Evra heads over Antonio Valencia's right-wing cross having jumped higher than Dirk Kuyt at the far post.
40: Suarez at Ferdinand and Evans runs from just inside his own half to tee up Kuyt but the Holland international is beaten to it by Ferdinand.
45: Suarez skips past Evra and appears set to race through on goal until Ferdinand's well-timed tackle nicks the ball away. Suarez explodes in rage at his perceived injustice and gets a tame shove from Evans. At the half-time whistle Suarez smashes the ball towards the dugouts. Team-mates Martin Skrtel, Dirk Kuyt and Daniel Agger escort the Liverpool striker off the pitch. Reports emerge of players clashing in the tunnel after Evra tries to confront Suarez.
65: A frustrated Suarez hammers the ball out of play from Evra's throw in on the left touchline.
67: Suarez crosses from the left but Evra, under no pressure, heads clear.
80: Carrick fouls Suarez from behind, earning a booking. Charlie Adam's free-kick bounces off Ferdinand in the six-yard area for Suarez who fire past David de Gea.
83: Suarez's volley from just outside the penalty area is blocked by team-mate Andy Carroll.
89: As Evra takes a throw in the corner closest to Liverpool fans the assistant referee appears to remove an object apparently thrown on to the pitch.
90: Suarez heads over Adam's cross but was flagged offside. At the final whistle Evra celebrates wildly in front of the Stretford End, sparking an angry reaction from Liverpool players as Suarez troops off down the tunnel on his own.
