Six minutes: Shaun Wright-Phillips races down the right past Michel Bastos but Wayne Rooney is unable to reach his teasing cross at the far post.

14: Joleon Lescott spares fellow centre-back Matthew Upson's blushes after he is robbed by Nilmar, with the Manchester City defender cutting out the resulting cross.

20: For once Kaka's first touch deserts him as he tries to control a poorly-hacked kick from Ben Foster.

24: Upson produces a perfect tackle to deny Kaka as he tries to get on the end of a one-two with Luis Fabiano.

28: Darren Bent heads wide James Milner's cross.

32: Foster saves Kaka's curling shot from the left of the penalty area.

35: Rooney's driving run towards goal is blocked by Thiago Silva on he edge of the penalty area but referee Abdullah Abdou waves play-on and the outcome is an England corner from which James Milner eventually fires over.

47: Nilmar puts Brazil ahead with a well-placed header from Elano's cross.

56: Wes Brown's woeful attempt to chest the ball back to Foster puts his Manchester United team-mate in trouble and he brings down Nilmar but then Luis Fabiano blazes the penalty over.

74: Brown blocks Nilmar's goalbound header.

78: Centre-back Lucio moves forward and with no challenge unleashes a left-foot shot from 25 yards which beats Foster but rebounds back off a post.
