Wycombe manager Gary Waddock was left trying not to get himself into hot water with the FA over referee Simon Hooper's performance following a thrilling 4-4 draw with Brighton at Adams Park.
Glenn Murray's 83rd-minute penalty, awarded for handball by Matt Bloomfield, earned the Seagulls a replay in a game which saw three spot-kicks and two red cards in addition to the eight goals. The handball was just one of several decisions to baffle the new Chairboys' boss.
``At the moment nothing seems to be going our way in terms of decisions. Some of the decisions were quite strange. I'm trying my best to be a diplomat," he said. ``If it had been a blatant handball then fair enough it's a penalty, but sometimes you see those given and sometimes you don't.''
The decision to send Craig Woodman off just before the break was another to upset Waddock.
``We showed a good attitude to get back into the game after going behind early on and then the decision with Woody's sending off affects the course of the game,'' he added.
``I was surprised at the red card. It was difficult to see through a group of players but it did seem harsh.''
Elliott Bennett fired the Seagulls ahead after only three minutes, but Matt Harrold and Scott Davies scored for Wycombe either side of Gavin Hoyte's dismissal for violent conduct.
Woodman was then handed his marching orders for a professional foul and Nicky Forster scored the resulting penalty to make it 2-2 at the break.
Murray struck to put Brighton in front for a second time, but Jon-Paul Pittman and Harrold turned the tables again before Murray's late leveller.
Brighton caretaker boss Martin Hinshelwood saluted the efforts of both Murray and Bennett, but admitted his side's defensive frailties had once again cost them dear.
He said: ``Glenn Murray did ever so well. He was out on his feet at the end. We could have taken him off with five or 10 minutes to go but we felt he needed to get in a full 90 minutes.
``I thought Elliott Bennett was outstanding - a great finish and then we asked him to do a job for us after the sending off and he was magnificent.
``We were incisive going forward, but the defensive demons came back to haunt us a little bit. I know it's a cup tie but if you score four goals away from home you expect to win the game.``
