Grimsby caretaker boss Neil Woods had no excuses after his side were knocked out of the FA Cup by Bath City.
The Conference South side were rarely troubled by the League Two strugglers and a goal in each half saw them cruise home. Centre back Chris Holland and striker Darren Edwards were the individual heroes with goals in the 32nd and 52nd minutes.
``Credit to Bath, I think they deserved to win the game,'' admitted Woods. ``It was massively disappointing from our point of view. But you have to make things happen. You have to use the abilities you have got."
He added: ``We had a good chance early on with a header but in general play we had a lot of possession but did not create anything.
``There are too many players out there not taking responsibility. Once they cross the white line you expect them to stand up and use their ability but they have not done that today.
``We have a lack of ability in certain areas. We were not good enough.
``We lacked quality. People are picked because they add something to a team but if they don't use the attributes they are picked for then common sense says they are not going to get picked again.
``This has been a step back. It has come as a big disappointment to me. We trained on Friday and that's as bright as I have seen them.
``But you have to be right for the games and for whatever reason we were not good enough individually.
``We have to assess what we have got and we have to start making some decisions. Ultimately we have to get some players who can do what we think they can do.''
Bath boss Adie Britton was in no doubt that his side deserved their victory.
``It's fantastic. We are absolutely delighted. The most important thing was the manner in which we did it,'' he said.
``We talked all week about how we should approach the game and the last thing we wanted to do was just sit back, soak up pressure and hit them on the break.
We have just gone and tried to play our football. We took the game to them. We wanted to be solid for the first 20 minutes because we thought their confidence would be dramatically affected.
``We scored a cracking goal. Great delivery from Lewis Hogg and a fantastic execution from Chris Holland.
Darren's shot got a slight deflection and went over the keeper but however it went in we will take it
``To be honest we were comfortable and the second goal made them desperate.
``It was only in the last 10 to 15 minutes that their superior fitness and strength told and they looked dangerous.
``But it would have been a travesty had we not won the game.''
