After defeat at Liverpool and a draw against League One Leeds in the FA Cup, it's fair to say Tottenham's so far successful season is suffering a minor blip.
Despite sitting fourth in the Premier League, many Tottenham fans, perhaps mindful of previous false dawns, will be fearing that their season could be about to slip into mediocrity.
While the midweek performance at Anfield was lacklustre in the extreme, Tottenham were massively unlucky not to book their place in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday.
On another day they would have had the cup game wrapped up after half-an-hour such was their domination.
Leeds were clinging on for much of the first half and had Jermain Defoe scored from the penalty spot it's likely Leeds would never have had the chance to launch the fightback which eventually ended with Jermaine Beckford scoring deep into injury time.
But despite the success so far this season and the jealousy of many of his Premier League rivals, it seems Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp is just not satisifed with his strike force.
Roman Pavlyuchenko scored a brilliant second goal against Leeds but he remains the odd-man out in Harry's plans.
The Russian has never really been given a chance to impress with a steady run in the side and despite Redknapp insisting after the Leeds game that he wanted Pavlyuchenko to stay, his actions prove otherwise.
Redknapp has also been continually been linked with strikers during the transfer window and even admitted initial talks had taken place with Ruud van Nistelrooy before the Dutch international's wage demands made a deal impossible.
So we now have the situation at Spurs where Redknapp either brings in a striker in the next six days or gets to spend the rest of the season with one who clearly knows he's not wanted.
With Tottenham still in with a chance of mounting a serious challenge for fourth spot, and still in the FA Cup Redknapp will need all his players pulling in the right direction.
It seems for once his famous man-management skills have deserted him.
