Rovers sneak past Orient

Tranmere earned themselves a second round home FA Cup tie with Aldershot thanks as a late goal from Ash Taylor earned a 1-0 victory over Leyton Orient in this first round replay.

Orient had the better of a drab first half but could not make their territorial advantage count and produced only token threats from Tamika Mkandawire, Scott McGleish, John Milligan and Sean Thornton which failed to trouble Rovers' keeper Luke Daniels.

Only when home goalkeeper Glenn Morris fumbled a free-kick by Chris Shuker were the Londoners remotely troubled.

Paul McLaren produced Tranmere's first shot at goal - well off target - after 48 minutes, while Luke Daniels made his first serious save from Orient substitute Ryan Jarvis.

Tranmere broke the deadlock following a midfield free-kick with Taylor lashing his shot low into the near corner from Shaleum Logan's cross after 83 minutes.

There was still time for Orient to have a goal disallowed for a foul on Rovers' keeper Daniels.
