Cambridge boss Martin Ling faces a midfield conundrum for the FA Cup clash with York.
United have been rocked by the loss of captain Paul Carden and Jai Reason, who have started every game in the centre of the park this season, for the second-round tie after both players were booked for the fifth time this term during the league draw against Rushden & Diamonds.
Ling confirmed that Sam Ives would be handed his first start but who partners the youngster remains up in the air.
Ling has several options. He could try defender Rory McAuley in midfield or even bring Ben Farrell in from the cold.
The likes of Brian Saah and Dan Gleeson have also played in midfield, but that would mean disrupting the defence.
Leading scorer Richard Brodie makes a welcome return to the York squad.
Brodie has completed a one-match ban for five yellow cards and is likely to go straight back into the starting XI.
Defender Djoumin Sangare is likely to make the bench after recovering from his recent groin injury, while fellow defender Ben Purkiss faces a late fitness test after missing the last couple of matches with a chest infection.
Striker Richard Pacquette is still suffering with a thigh injury and is unlikely to feature but Michael Gash has suffered no reaction to his recent foot injury and will again be available for selection.
Midfielder Andy Ferrell is pushing for a start after being relegated to the bench in recent games.
