Northampton will be without winger Ben Marshall for the FA Cup tie with Fleetwood Town.
Marshall was recalled by parent club Stoke this week after a three-month loan spell at Sixfields so manager Ian Sampson is set to hand Liam Davis a first start of the season.
Davis broke a metatarsal in pre-season but returned as a late substitute at Torquay last weekend and could start against the Blue Square North team.
Middlesbrough right-back John Johnson has been given permission to play, but forward Courtney Herbert is unavailable. The youngster is struggling with a back problem but is also cup-tied having represented Long Buckby in an earlier round.
Midfielder Abdul Osman remains out with a back problem but defender Dean Beckwith is in contention to return after missing the defeat at Torquay with a groin injury.
Fleetwood Town manager Micky Mellon has received mixed team news ahead of the tie.
Striker Adam Warlow managed an hour on his return from injury for the reserves in midweek and, although he is probably not 100%, he will available for selection at Sixfields yet whether he starts remains to be seen.
However, recent signing Steven Torpey is cup-tied having already featured in this season's competition for former employers AFC Telford.
Otherwise, Mellon has a fully-fit squad and he is hopeful his Blue Square North side, which includes FA Cup winner Alan Wright, can cause an upset.
"We're obviously very proud to get to the first-round proper and we want to keep the story going for as long as possible," he told Press Association Sport. "We haven't really achieved anything yet although we're very proud to be here.
"There's plenty of FA Cup experience in the squad and there's plenty of lads who want to prove themselves against league opposition. They want to make history, I think they would be the first Fleetwood team to beat a league team in the FA Cup."
