Wycombe v Brighton

Wanderers wait on Davies

Wycombe face an anxious wait over midfielder Scott Davies ahead of the FA Cup first round tie with League One rivals Brighton.

On-loan Reading man Davies scored two exceptional goals during last weekend's defeat at the hands of Walsall - including a 40-yard free-kick - but the Royals have yet to decide whether to allow him to feature in the competition.

Davies has extended his loan spell at Adams Park until January 4 but either Matty Bloomfield, Stuart Green or John Mousinho will replace him if Reading veto his appearance.

Forward Stuart Beavon remains sidelined after having groin surgery but manager Gary Waddock has no other selection dilemmas as he looks for a first win since taking charge last month.

Brighton will be without Arron Davies for the trip north.

Nottingham Forest do not want their on-loan winger to be cup-tied, but they have given permission for midfielder Matt Thornhill to play while Arsenal defender Gavin Hoyte has also been cleared.

Caretaker boss Martin Hinshelwood could call on wideman Dean Cox, who fell out of favour under previous manager Russell Slade, in place of Davies.

Goalkeeper Michel Kuipers and defender Adam Virgo will also push for recalls having been dropped for Slade's final game in charge, last week's 3-3 home draw with Hartlepool.

Jim McNulty (ankle) and Colin Hawkins (heel) are still sidelined while fellow defenders Andrew Whing (hernia) and Jake Wright (ankle) could do with a reserve game before returning.
