Wycombe boss Gary Waddock has urged his players to use the Millwall performance as a yardstick after the Chairboys finally grabbed their second win of the season.
Waddock's troops were without a victory in 14 games heading into the clash at The Den but second-half strikes from Chris Westwood and Kevin Betsy did the damage. Despite the three points lifting his side off the foot of League One, Waddock has warned his players the hard work is just beginning.
``I'm delighted for the players and for the fans,'' said Waddock. ``We defended well when we had to, pressed well and took our chances when they came."
He added: ``That is the standard we have set and now we have to maintain that.
``We've been close to breaking this bad run on occasions but it's that first one which is the hardest but now we've got over that barrier we need to make sure we keep turning in performances like that.
``People have been low around the club but I just want to take the pressure off the players and let them perform and looking at the performance you wouldn't say that was a bottom of the table side.''
Westwood opened the scoring 10 minutes into the second half when he rose highest to head home a John Mousinho corner from 10 yards.
With the Lions pressing the Chairboys sealed the points 18 minutes from time when Scott Davies slipped Betsy through and the former Southend midfielder ran 40 yards before converting.
Wycombe's second-half heroics saw the Lions slump to their first home defeat in 14 fixtures and boss Kenny Jackett was in no doubt that the best team won.
``We were flat throughout and I can't remember when we have created so few chances,'' said Jackett. ``We just fell away as the game went on. Wycombe just handled us, we were slow to react and second best. It was really lacklustre."
