Grimsby are interested in signing Gainsborough Trinity midfielder Mark Hudson, according to the Conference North club.

Hudson, 29, has been training with the Mariners and played for the reserves in a 5-3 victory over Lincoln at Blundell Park last month.

"There has been a lot of interest from Grimsby Town in Mark Hudson," said Peter Swann, the chairman, owner and director of football at Gainsborough Trinity. "Even though he is not on contract, he is a registered Gainsborough Trinity player. Grimsby still have to go through the right procedures."

He added: "I know he wants to play in the Football League and we are happy to let him go as long as we know what is happening."
