Hone saves point for Imps

Danny Hone scored late on to salvage a point for Lincoln in a 1-1 draw at basement club Darlington.

The Quakers took a deserved lead after 38 minutes when Imps goalkeeper Rob Burch allowed a 20-yard drive from Gary Dempsey to slip through his hands and the ball rolled slowly over the line.

The Quakers had a penalty appeal turned down after 46 minutes when Mor Diop fell down in the box following a tangle with Adam Watts.

Lincoln almost took advantage of their lucky escape to level matters but substitute Lenell John-Lewis was inches away from connecting with a free-kick from Scott Kerr.

Darlington skipper Ian Miller then preserved his side's lead by blocking a goal-bound effort from Brian Gilmour, but he could do nothing about the Imps` leveller seven minutes from time.

Hone hooked the ball over Shane Redmond, who had raced out of the Darlington goal and failed to punch the ball clear.
