ITV Spy - Is Sergio Aguero the man for Chelsea?

ITV Spy: Is Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero the man for Chelsea, Eto'o must watch out, plus West Ham knickers

Should Chelsea go for Aguero?

Mixed messages seem to be emanating from Stamford Bridge as the rumours surrounding a potential move for Atletico Madrid's Sergio Aguero grew on Wednesday.

Two days ago Chelsea's Italian manager Carlo Ancelotti was singing the praises of the young strikers in his squad - Daniel Sturridge and Fabio Borini - insisting they could deputise for Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou when the Ivorian duo depart for the African Cup of Nations in January.

But Wednesday morning has seen confident talk of a £40million-plus deal being in the offing for the precocious Aguero. The Spanish team are languishing third from bottom in the Spanish first division, having endured a torrid start to the season

He may be only 21 years old, but he's already been around the block once or twice. Aguero broke Diego Maradona's record of being the youngest player to appear in the Argentinian top-flight when he debuted for Independiente aged just 15 years and 35 days.

So while some might point out that £40million seems an awful lot to pay for a 21-year-old striker, it should be remembered that they start them young these days.

Perhaps a more serious question mark over Aguero's suitability for Chelsea can be highlighted by his Atletico strike partner, Diego Forlan.

Forlan was highly-rated by many Manchester United fans during his time at Old Trafford but he never seemed suited to playing in the Premier League. You only need to look at the example of Didier Drogba to see the kind of player who flourishes in the rough-and-tumble of the English top-flight.

Aguero has plenty of ability, there's no question of that, but isn't it a bit of a big punt to take on such a young player who's never before played in the very unique stage of the Premier League?

Watch it, Samuel

Samuel Eto-o is a generous bloke - to celebrate Cameroon's qualification for next year's World Cup, he splashed out on a £29,000 watch for EVERY member of the African nation's squad.

Cameroon beat Morocco 2-0 to secure their sixth appearance at a World Cup finals and were soon proud owners of the pricey watch, complete with an inscription from Eto-o himself.

So here's a question - what will be the prize should Cameroon go all the way and win the World Cup? What would Eto'o do if he's standing over the decisive penalty in a shoot-out in the final, go for the glory or protect his bank balance?

Twisted Hammers turn to selling knickers

The ITV Spy breathed a sigh of relief this morning after learning that yes, the West Ham club shop will be offering special Hammers lingerie inspired by Katy Perry's recent appearance at the MTV Music awards.

The "limited-edition" underwear will be available for £300 a go - perhaps funding Gianfranco Zola's quest for a striker who scores as regularly as Perry's boyfriend Russell Brand.
