Manchester City, Tottenham, West Ham and Birmingham could be the big movers as the January transfer window prepares to slam shut at 5pm.
Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini is reportedly set to make a final £20m bid for Real Madrid midfielder Fernando Gago, while also splashing out £7m on Parma midfielder McDonald Mariga. City are also still keen on wrapping up a deal for Middlesbrough winger Adam Johnson.
West Ham are still in need of a striker to fire them away from the relegation zone and despite the imminent arrival of Benni McCarthy have also been linked with Tottenham's Robbie Keane plus a host of foreign names.
Down at White Hart Lane, Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp has a few irons in the fire although it could be the door marked exit which is the busiest, with Keane possibly going, Alan Hutton probably going to Sunderland and Roman Pavlyuchenko maybe finally going to Birmingham.
Tottenham could have a new keeper by the end of the day with David James again linked witht he club, but Stoke are also after him.
Finally Birmingham are thought to be desperate to land a striker and if a deal for Pavlyuchenko fails to materialise, City boss Alex McLeish may target FC Red Bull Salzburg striker Marc Janko.
