Stephen Carr insists Birmingham will not get carried away after claiming a fifth Barclays Premier League win in a row to move up to sixth in the table.

Blues beat Blackburn 2-1 at St Andrew's courtesy of a double from Cameron Jerome to climb above Manchester City and Liverpool, for 24 hours at least.

Alex McLeish's side then defended valiantly to secure the three points after Ryan Nelsen pulled one back for the struggling visitors.

Captain Carr told Sky Sports: "We knew what to expect, a lot of really long balls, but we stayed strong and picked up lots of second balls and we got our just rewards. We never make it easy but the lads stayed strong."

Regarding the run, which began with a 1-0 victory over Fulham on November 21, he added: "It's massive. I've never had it in my career, it's unbelievable.

"But there's a certain number of points we need to stay safe and we just need to keep our feet on the ground."
