Stoke defender Ryan Shawcross believes Saturday's match against Wigan gives the players an ideal opportunity to finish a difficult week on a high.
There has been much speculation about what went on in the Potters' dressing room after last weekend's defeat at Arsenal, with allegations manager Tony Pulis and striker James Beattie had a physical confrontation following a disagreement over a day off following the team's Christmas party.
Shawcross was not party to any incident - he was sidelined last week by a groin injury - but admits it has been uncomfortable with the media spotlight turned on the club over the last few days.
But he said the players were all focused on their task, which was to win against Wigan at the Britannia Stadium.
"There has been a lot of speculation and it is disappointing it has got into the papers but these things happen," said the centre-back, who is hopeful of returning the side after injury.
"The players have been concentrating on the game against Wigan. It (the alleged dressing room bust-up) has not been spoken about.
"We had a night out - which was good for team spirit - and everyone has got on fine. Now we're all focused on Wigan.
"The press will always be looking for a story which is why we have to go out there on Saturday and get them writing about us playing well and winning instead of other things off the pitch.
"It has been a little strange with cameras at training and a lot of press about but this is probably easier than most weeks because all we have to do on Saturday is get a win and all the headlines stop."
