Bolton defender Gretar Steinsson insists the players care about the fortunes of the club and they all laughed off claims of dressing-room unrest.
Captain Kevin Davies called a players' meeting last Friday after a run of five matches without a win dropped Wanderers dangerously close to the relegation zone.
Prior to that, manager Gary Megson had alluded to unsettling influences within the club but, after their clear-the-air talks, the team responded by drawing 3-3 at home to Manchester City last Saturday.
They then beat West Ham 3-1 in midweek - only their second win since September 26 - and Steinsson said the squad had re-focused themselves after the players' meeting.
"Sometimes you just need to set everyone so they are looking at the same thing, get our aim right," he told Press Association Sport.
"We just needed to put in a little bit of extra work and a little bit extra pressure on ourselves - even though there is already a lot of pressure on us.
"We haven't been doing as well as we wanted and we need to do better, we know it, and the last two games we have been getting the points.
"We all care. We want to do better, we want to do well for the team and for the team to do well."
