Aberdeen manager Mark McGhee confirmed Sone Aluko faces a spell on the sidelines with a stomach injury.
Winger Aluko was forced off before half-time in Saturday's 2-1 Clydesdale Bank Premier League win over St Johnstone. He will definitely sit out the Dons' next match in just under two weeks' time, while a scan will determine how much longer he will be out for.
Manager McGhee told RedTV: "Sone has a stomach strain - which we don't know exactly yet the level of. Certainly, he won't be training for a couple of weeks. I'd imagine he'd miss the Motherwell game; I've no idea beyond that."
He added: "It needs to be scanned and it needs to settle down a bit."
Aluko scored a stunning solo goal against Saints before going off, and McGhee added: "He started to look the part again.
"His goal was absolutely fantastic.
"If he's now going to be out the team, it's a setback for us all."
There was better news on fellow youngster Peter Pawlett, who it was also feared had picked up another injury.
McGhee said: "Peter's fine; Peter trained this morning; he really just cramped up. He hadn't been training much."
