Tony Mowbray is expecting to oversee a shake-up to his Celtic squad this month but warned Gary Caldwell that the Parkhead club will call the shots on his future.
The Hoops defender's contract is up at the end of the season and all the signs are that he will forego the opportunity to extend his current deal. He has been linked with a move to Middlesbrough but Mowbray insists any changes to the squad will be made on his terms.
"We are all very aware of his (Caldwell's) contract situation and if there are conversations to be had, we will have them," said Mowbray. "What I do know is that we will be in control of whether Gary stays or goes. He is our player, he is under contract and we will decide what is best for this football club, first and foremost."
He added: "I am in the market for quality footballers.
"The board are fully aware of the situation.
"There are a lot of conversations going on at the moment with various clubs, either to sell players or to buy players."
