Celtic v Hearts

No worries for Mowbray

Tony Mowbray has no fresh injury worries for Celtic`s Clydesdale Bank Premier League clash with Hearts at Parkhead.

Andreas Hinkel (thigh), Jos Hooiveld (hamstring), Darren O`Dea (hamstring), Paddy McCourt (knee) and Shaun Maloney (heel) remain sidelined.

The Hoops boss looks likely to once again pair 18-year-old defender Josh Thompson alongside Glenn Loovens.

Glenn Loovens has disputed Kenny Miller`s assertion that Rangers` superior "firepower" will see the Ibrox side retain their Clydesdale Bank Premier League title.

The Govan club have a 10-point advantage over Celtic with a superior goal difference of 20 ahead of their game against Motherwell at Fir Park on Wednesday night.

Former Hoops` striker Miller is set to resume his 33-goal partnership with Kris Boyd after both players returned from injury after the goalless draw against St Mirren in the Active Nations Scottish Cup tie on Saturday.

Parkhead boss Tony Mowbray has yet to identify his preferred strike force after bringing in Robbie Keane, Morten Rasmussen, Diomansy Kamara in the January transfer window to augment the presence of Marc-Antoine Fortune and Georgios Samaras.

Miller claimed that the Light Blues` squad contained "enough firepower to go and win this league," but ahead of the visit of Hearts, Loovens, encouraged by the fact that all three new boys scored in the 4-2 cup win against Dunfermline at East End Park, had his say.

"I don't really agree with that," he said.

"We have some great strikers,

"If you have seen our recent games then you will have seen the chances we have created.

"It's just for us to wait for that one game where it all clicks and they will all go in.

"There are still 15 or 16 games so there are plenty of points to play for.

"We have to play Rangers twice so we will see.

"But we need to make sure we get a run going and don't drop any more points."

Hearts' injury crisis has deepened ahead of the game.

Ismael Bouzid (hamstring) is out after being forced off after just 24 minutes of last Tuesday's Co-operative Insurance Cup semi-final defeat to St Mirren, while Andrew Driver will miss the next two or three games after suffering a recurrence of his knee trouble.

Jason Thomson is also doubtful, Ruben Palazuelos and Scott Robinson (both knee) are out for six weeks, joining David Templeton (foot), Craig Thomson and Johnny Stewart (both knee), Laryea Kingston (hamstring), Arvydas Novikovas and Jamie MacDonald (both ankle) on the sidelines.

Hearts boss Jim Jefferies has insisted he will not recall rebel defender Jose Goncalves for the trip to Celtic, despite the club's injury crisis deepening.

Despite being "down to the bare bones", he is not about to change his mind about Portuguese star Goncalves, who he claims has been made an "unbelievable" offer to extend his contract which expires at the end of the season.

"Am I better to go for a player who wants to play for the club or somebody who convinces me that he doesn't want to be here?" said a visibly irked Jefferies.
