FC Twente v Fenerbahce

Top two set for showdown

Europa League Group H's top two teams meet on Wednesday with both looking to cement their places in the last 32.

Leaders Fenerbahce, unbeaten in four European away games, will be out to avenge a 2-1 loss in the group's opening game in September and would guarantee not just qualification but also top spot in the group were they to do so.

But they face an FC Twente side whose run of 10 wins in the domestic Eredivisie has equalled a 25-year-old club record.

Their rare slip-up away to FC Sheriff means they can only seal their progression this week if they better the Moldovan club's result against Steaua Bucharest, but victory would leave them all but through.

Both sides will be missing players after recent car crashes, though the response to Theo Janssen and Colin Kazim-Richards' accidents has been markedly different.

While Twente banned their midfielder for two months and issued him with the maximum fine in their power for a drink-driving incident, Kazim-Richards has had his spirits lifted by a host of well-wishers.

The English-born forward suffered a broken wrist in the crash on Sunday morning, and a family statement on his website read: "After the unfortunate accident, Colin Kazim and his family would like to express their sincere thanks and gratitude. They have been amazed by the level of concern shown by everyone.

"On opening his eyes after the operation he immediately asked the doctor if he would be available for selection in the match against Twente and was crushed when told `no'."

Kazim-Richards joins Emre Belozoglu on the sidelines.

But Cristian Baroni and Andre dos Santos - both training separately from the squad after recent injuries - were included in the travelling party.

In addition to Twente's landmark exploits as a team, striker Bryan Ruiz has scored in eight successive league games to break Blaise Nkufo's club record.

But coach Steve McClaren told the club's official website: "We still have a doubt over Bryan. He has an ankle injury, but he has made good progress over the last two days so there is a good chance he could play."

He added: "The clash with Fenerbahce is a great game. All of Europe will be watching us. We must concentrate and focus for 90 minutes and the winner takes it all. We must not squander this opportunity."
