Vermeer happy in Amsterdam

I am a man who loves stability. In my career as a goalkeeper and at the club and team of Ajax.

It does not mean that my ambitions are different from those of the players around me.

Every professional footballer should decide for themselves if and when he chooses a foreign adventure. My focus is on winning prizes.

– Ajax goalkeeper Kenneth Vermeer speaking to De Telegraaf

Ajax were crowned Eredivisie champions for the third successive season after thrashing Willem II 5-0.

First-half goals from Kolbeinn Sigthorsson and Christian Eriksen set Ajax on their way and Viktor Fischer, Siem De Jong and Danny Hoesen wrapped up the victory.

The triumph leaves Ajax four points clear of nearest challengers PSV Eindhoven with one round of matches remaining.

PSV beat NEC Nijmegen 4-2 but it was not enough to deny their rivals.

Happy birthday Marc Overmars

Happy big 4-0 to Dutch master Marc 'Roadrunner' Overmars, who graced the flanks at Highbury for a good three years before quitting north London to play for Barcelona. Overmars is currently Director of Football at Ajax.
