I hope people understand and respect my decision because it has been very difficult.
It was very difficult to choose between the country where you were born and the country that has given you everything.
I looked at everything and saw that it was right and best to play for Spain because this is where I have done everything. All that I have in my life was given to me by this country.
I have a special affection. Here I feel very appreciated for all that I do and I feel the love of the people.
Atletico Madrid's Brazil-born striker Diego Costa has officially committed his international future to Spain.
The 25-year-old, who has played two friendlies for Brazil, has switched allegiance to Vicente del Bosque's world champions and could make his debut in November's friendlies.
Brazil coach Luiz Felipe Scolari has confirmed he will pick Atletico Madrid striker Diego Costa, who has indicated his wish to change allegiance and represent Spain, for next month's friendly internationals.
Costa was granted Spanish nationality in July and the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) last month asked FIFA for permission to register the player.
