Koke sticking with Atletico

Koke does not regret his decision to stay with Atletico Madrid, believing Diego Simeone's side will continue to improve.

We must thank the interest of Barcelona and other teams, but I'm happy because I want to be here, I've been here all my life and it was not time to go.

The club is growing, we are growing as players - why I would go at the best time of Atletico Madrid?

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone has admitted defeat in their Champions League opener at Olympiacos has piled the pressure on his side ahead of their next fixture against Juventus.

The Argentinian told the club's official website: "Olympiacos start from a very strong position to qualify and it makes us more uncomfortable to play at home against Juventus, who also started from a good position."

"I think the team attacked well, they had very clear chances in the first half, but they were hard on the attack.

"Olympiacos were precise when scoring and we weren't with the chances we had."

Eight-game ban for Simeone

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has been handed an eight-game ban by the Spanish football federation following his actions during Friday's Supercopa second leg against Real Madrid.

Simeone was sent to the stands during the first half of the clash at the Vicente Calderon after aggressively remonstrating with the fourth official, who he then tapped on the back of the head.

The Argentinian's ban has been made up of four different punishments and includes a combined fine of 4,805 euros (£3,800). Atletico have also been fined 2,800 euros (£2,230).

France international Antoine Griezmann has officially joined Atletico Madrid after signing a six-year contract with the Spanish champions.

Atletico and Real Sociedad announced on Monday that they had agreed a deal for the 23-year-old, believed to be worth around 30million euros (£24m), and the forward completed the move on Tuesday following a successful medical.

Benitez: Napoli will not sell Callejon

Napoli coach Rafael Benitez has rubbished speculation that Jose Callejon could join Atletico Madrid this summer by insisting there is "no chance" the Italian club would sell the forward.

Primera Division champions Atletico were among the clubs reported to be chasing the 27-year-old, who enjoyed a stellar first season in Serie A last term and scored 20 goals in all competitions following a 10million euro (£8m) move from Real Madrid.

Reports that Callejon wanted to seek a return to the Spanish capital grew after Benitez removed the player from a training session on Sunday, but the former Chelsea and Liverpool boss has denied a rift between himself and his fellow Spaniard.

It was very simple, he was training without intensity, but there was no problem.

I wanted to bring him here, he scored 20 goals and I would have liked to have seen him called up to the Spanish team.

The coach hinted that Atletico had expressed interest in signing Callejon, but revealed Napoli had turned down their offers.

A team made us several large offers for him but we rejected them, we don't want to sell him and there is no chance we will.
