Kompany has no injury concerns

Manchester City captain Vincent Kompany has calmed worries about his fitness.

The defender limped out of Belgium's win over Andorra on Friday in the 56th minute and had strapping on his leg.

All is well. Before the game I informed the coach of a few glitches. He decided to spare me and bring me off.

We did everything we needed to.

In a game like this we must not underestimate the opponent. I am hoping the win will have a good impact on the goal difference.

I am very positive and satisfied with the result and the performance of the team.

Gerets plays down Marseille return rumours

Belgian Eric Gerets has played down suggestions he could return to Marseille for a second spell as head coach.

The 59-year-old was a popular figure at the Stade Velodrome during his first stint, which ran from September 2007 to May 2009.

This flame between Marseille and I hasn't got any weaker, but I stop you straight away: today there is nothing concrete between 'OM' and myself.

Nobody at OM or in the name of OM has contacted me. I am under contract with Lekhwiya until June 2015 and my future isn't a worry.

– Eric Gerets speaking to France Football magazine
