Luka Modric off to Real Madrid?

Tottenham's Croatian midfielder Luka Modric has agreed with Florentino Perez and Jose Mourinho to join Real Madrid this summer, pro-Real newspaper Marca is reporting. The transfer fee? In the region of £30m.

Kaka, meanwhile, is reported to be staying at Madrid for another season at least.

During the summer Marca are forced to churn out a lot of rumours to fill their pages, but it's rare that Perez agrees with his manager so he will be desperate to get this deal done for Mourinho. The Portuguese man is keen for a better balance in the midfield, and feels that Modric is the man for this role, whilst others can expect to leave.

Bilic: I've never been so proud

I don't want to talk about the referee. I think he could not have missed the fouls on Corluka and Mandzukic, but Spain are world champions and they shouldn't need help from the referee.

...I have phenomenal players with great character. I came in as a young coach without any experience, now we have a great team and we can be proud of our work together. I've never been as proud as I am now.

Vukojevic proud of Croatian display

[Ivan] Rakitic had a great chance, but we didn't have the luck.

...We are proud of tonight's match and our performances in this tournament. We haven't gone through to the quarter-finals, but we retain optimism.
