Maher called up to Dutch squad in place of Sneijder

Holland midfielder Wesley Sneijder has been ruled out of Tuesday's World Cup qualifier with Romania with a groin injury, the Dutch federation (KNVB) has confirmed.

The Galatasaray star was set to miss out after picking up the problem in Friday's Group D win over Estonia and has now left the squad to return to Turkey.

Holland boss Louis van Gaal has called up AZ Alkmaar's teenage midfielder Adam Maher for Tuesday's meeting in Amsterdam.
