From @ReeceWabara on Twitter:Manchester City's blueprint for the future has become a little clearer following the appointment of Patrick Vieira as their new elite development squad coach.
Vieira moves from an administrative position to take over what is effectively the reserve team from Attilio Lombardo, who has left the club in a backroom clearout following Roberto Mancini's sacking as manager.
Samir Nasri is back in the France squad after a 10-month absence for their upcoming friendlies against Uruguay and Brazil in South America.
The Manchester City midfielder has not played for Les Bleus since Euro 2012, when he fell foul of the French Football Federation following an expletive-laden outburst at journalists.
That earned him a three-match ban by the FFF and subsequent snub by national coach Didier Deschamps, but Nasri has now been given another chance at international level.
Manchester City have confirmed the departure of five more members of Roberto Mancini's backroom staff.
Mancini was sacked after three-and-a-half years as manager on Monday and his first-team coach David Platt left the following day.
Among those also to have departed are defensive specialist Angelo Gregucci and reserve team boss Attilio Lombardo, the former Sampdoria and Crystal Palace player.
– Statement on Manchester City's official websiteManchester City can confirm that Ivan Carminati, Fausto Salsano, Massimo Battara, Angelo Gregucci and Attilio Lombardo have left their respective roles at the football club.
We thank them for their contribution to Manchester City since their arrival and wish them well with their future careers.
